What is a Silent Unit (Silent Mechanism)?
A Silent Unit is a device that surpresses the sound of an acoustic piano, while preserving the original touch of it. Instead, the sound is transmitted through headphones or speakers. It is like transforming your acoustic piano into an electronic piano.
An acoustic piano generates sound when the hammer strikes the strings in coordination with the keys. By installing the Silent Unit, the hammer's motion is stopped just before it strikes the strings. The movement of the keys is then detected by sensors, and the sampled sound is played through headphones or speakers. You can easily switch between the silent mode and the normal acoustic mode at any time.

Silent Unit Installation Process
Here is a simple explanation of the installation process for the silent unit.
① All the internal parts of the piano, such as the action and keys, are removed.
② Various parts, such as the sensors that detect touch and the hammer stop rail that suppresses the hammer movement during silent mode, are installed in their respective positions.
③ After all parts are installed, the piano action is adjusted for silent operation.
④ Initial settings and operation checks are completed, and the installation is finished.
The installation takes about 3 to 5 hours, depending on the model, and can be completed in about half a day.
